Differential Pressure to Flow
Normalized square-root flow: Q = Qmax √(ΔP / ΔPmax). Not an orifice sizing tool (see FLUID-23).

Normalized square-root flow: Q = Qmax √(ΔP / ΔPmax). Not an orifice sizing tool (see FLUID-23).
App id: INST-30. Reference version 1.0.
How to fill it
Fill the inputs. The tool shows the outputs.
On the tool screen, Calc is the working sheet. Presets stores values you reuse. Reference is the formula, assumptions, and provenance below.
Formula
Q = Qmax √(ΔP / ΔPmax)Inputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Differential pressure (camera) | kPa |
| Maximum differential | kPa |
| Maximum flow | L/min |
Outputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Flow (hero result) | L/min |
| Flow span (square-root) | % |
Diagnose
Observations are context. They do not pass or fail a structure. See Diagnose.
| When | Observation | Severity |
|---|---|---|
span fraction < 0 or span fraction > 1 | Outside configured span | caution |
Assumptions
- Negative ΔP is rejected. Bidirectional DP is not modeled.
Provenance
- Transmitter/PLC square-root characterization. Zero ΔP is zero flow.
