Thermal & HVAC
Air Temperature Differential
ΔT = T1 − T2 with sign preserved. Subtracts absolute temperatures so mixed °C/°F is valid.

How to fill it
Fill the inputs. The tool shows the outputs.
On the tool screen, Calc is the working sheet. Presets stores values you reuse. Reference is the formula, assumptions, and provenance below.
Formula
ΔT = T1 − T2Inputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Temperature 1 (supply / hot) (camera) | C |
| Temperature 2 (return / cold) (camera) | C |
Outputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| ΔT (T1 − T2) (hero result) | deltaC |
| Absolute ΔT | deltaC |
Diagnose
Observations are context. They do not pass or fail a structure. See Diagnose.
| When | Observation | Severity |
|---|---|---|
|delta k| < 2 | Small temperature difference | info |
|delta k| > 25 | Large air ΔT | caution |
Assumptions
- A 20 °F difference is 11.111 K, not a converted 20 °C reading.
Provenance
- Cooling coil: enter return as T1 and supply as T2 for a positive ΔT.
