Fluid & Pressure
Pump Shaft Power
Shaft power from hydraulic power and pump efficiency.
Fluid & PressureMechanical & Motion
Shaft power from hydraulic power and pump efficiency.
App id: FLUID-15. Reference version 1.0.
How to fill it
Fill the inputs. The tool shows the outputs.
On the tool screen, Calc is the working sheet. Presets stores values you reuse. Reference is the formula, assumptions, and provenance below.
Formula
P_shaft = P_h / ηInputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Pump efficiency | % |
| Hydraulic power (optional) | kW |
| Volumetric flow (optional) | m3/s |
| Pump head (optional) | m |
| Density (optional) | kg/m3 |
| Gravity (optional) | m/s2 |
Outputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Shaft power (hero result) | kW |
| Hydraulic power | kW |
Diagnose
Observations are context. They do not pass or fail a structure. See Diagnose.
| When | Observation | Severity |
|---|---|---|
Pump efficiency > 1.02 | Efficiency above 100% | warning |
Pump efficiency > 1 | Efficiency slightly above 100% | caution |
Pump efficiency < 0.5 | Low mechanical efficiency | caution |
Assumptions
- Supply hydraulic power, or flow + head + density.
- Efficiency is a decimal fraction (80% → 0.80).
Provenance
- η = P_h / P_shaft at the same operating point.
