Cable Length
How much conductor that resistance represents — leftover on a spool, or length of a linear-anode header.
How much conductor that resistance represents — leftover on a spool, or length of a linear-anode header.
App id: CABLE-03. Reference version 1.0.
How to fill it
Fill the inputs. The tool shows the outputs.
On the tool screen, Calc is the working sheet. Presets stores values you reuse. Reference is the formula, assumptions, and provenance below.
Formula
L = RA / ρInputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Resistivity | ohm-m |
| Resistance | ohm |
| Cross-sectional area (optional) | mm2 |
| Diameter (optional) | mm |
Outputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Length (hero result) | ft |
Diagnose
This tool does not attach diagnose observations.
Assumptions
- Copper 1.68×10⁻⁸ Ω·m is a built-in default the user may enter, not auto-filled.
- Enter area or round-conductor diameter. Diameter is ignored when area is supplied.
- Uniform cross-section. One-way length of the conductor that produced R.
Provenance
- Uniform-conductor length L = RA / ρ, inverse of Cable Resistance.
