Speed / Duplex
Compare two Ethernet interfaces for speed or duplex mismatch.
Networking & Communications
Compare two Ethernet interfaces for speed or duplex mismatch.
App id: NET-16. Reference version 1.0.
How to fill it
Fill the inputs. The tool shows the outputs.
On the tool screen, Calc is the working sheet. Presets stores values you reuse. Reference is the formula, assumptions, and provenance below.
Formula
match if speed and duplex are equalInputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Local speed | Mbit/s |
| Remote speed | Mbit/s |
| Local duplex (0=half, 1=full) | 1 |
| Remote duplex (0=half, 1=full) | 1 |
Outputs
| Name | Unit |
|---|---|
| Matched (1 = yes) (hero result) | 1 |
| Speed mismatch (1 = yes) | 1 |
| Duplex mismatch (1 = yes) | 1 |
Diagnose
Observations are context. They do not pass or fail a structure. See Diagnose.
| When | Observation | Severity |
|---|---|---|
Matched (1 = yes) = 1 | Matched | info |
Speed mismatch (1 = yes) = 1 | Speed mismatch detected | warning |
Duplex mismatch (1 = yes) = 1 | Duplex mismatch detected | warning |
Assumptions
- Duplex is 0 for half and 1 for full. Speed uses the data-rate unit (1000 Mbit/s = 1 Gbit/s).
Provenance
- Manual comparison of speed and duplex. Does not query interface state.
