Speed / Duplex

Compare two Ethernet interfaces for speed or duplex mismatch.

Networking & Communications

Compare two Ethernet interfaces for speed or duplex mismatch.

App id: NET-16. Reference version 1.0.

How to fill it

Fill the inputs. The tool shows the outputs.

On the tool screen, Calc is the working sheet. Presets stores values you reuse. Reference is the formula, assumptions, and provenance below.

Formula

match if speed and duplex are equal

Inputs

NameUnit
Local speedMbit/s
Remote speedMbit/s
Local duplex (0=half, 1=full)1
Remote duplex (0=half, 1=full)1

Outputs

NameUnit
Matched (1 = yes) (hero result)1
Speed mismatch (1 = yes)1
Duplex mismatch (1 = yes)1

Diagnose

Observations are context. They do not pass or fail a structure. See Diagnose.

WhenObservationSeverity
Matched (1 = yes) = 1Matchedinfo
Speed mismatch (1 = yes) = 1Speed mismatch detectedwarning
Duplex mismatch (1 = yes) = 1Duplex mismatch detectedwarning

Assumptions

  • Duplex is 0 for half and 1 for full. Speed uses the data-rate unit (1000 Mbit/s = 1 Gbit/s).

Provenance

  • Manual comparison of speed and duplex. Does not query interface state.
