Offline and privacy

Fieldeng does not require an account and does not run a backend for core features.

On this device

Calculations, measurements, locations, assets, projects, forms, photos you attach, presets, and drafts are stored locally. Fieldeng does not upload saved field records to an NPC Inc. server. Device settings can include app data in operating-system backups or transfers. Exported copies remain where you share them.

Camera and microphone

The meter reader runs on the device. You confirm every reading before it fills a field. Camera frames and OCR results are not sent to Google for recognition. Google's bundled ML Kit SDK separately collects diagnostic and usage information, as described in the privacy policy.

Voice entry uses the operating system's on-device speech recognizer when it is available. If that recognizer is missing, Fieldeng does not send audio to a network fallback. Installing a speech language model can require an operating-system download.

Network

Core tools work without a signal. Online streets and map fonts contact Protomaps, Source Cooperative, and OpenFreeMap. Address search sends your query to OpenStreetMap Nominatim. App-update checks contact Expo. Network tests contact the destinations you choose.

The bundled offline street map covers part of central Texas. Outside that area, core capture and calculation tools still work, but street detail requires an online map source. A first offline launch can also lack map labels that have not been cached.

Deletion

Fieldeng Settings can clear saved records. Android Settings can clear all local app storage. Backups and exported copies must be managed separately through the selected provider or destination.
